| Abstract | Describes predator-prey interactions of wandering, grey-headed and black-browed albatrosses at Bird Island, South Georgia, and cephalopods and other prey, from 1996- 2000. Includes importance of cephalopods and other prey groups in diets in relation to albatross breeding performance; variation in albatross foraging patterns in relation to changes in prey composition; at-sea distribution of prey using albatross satellite tracking data; implications for consumption of cephalopods from a fishery management perspective; and interactions between albatrosses and fisheries (particularly longline) in relation to recent decline in albatross populations. |
